Blaise Winter

Former NFL Defensive End

Born with a cleft lip and palate, Blaise Winter is no stranger to overcoming challenges. After numerous surgeries and procedures to improve his physical health, Blaise began experiencing hearing loss. Not one to be held back, Blaise refused to let his hearing loss keep him from achieving his goals—especially on the football field.

Using his inner strength, Blaise worked hard to develop his skills and earned a position on Syracuse University’s football team. After being named the team’s MVP in 1983, Blaise was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts and decided, with the support of his coach, Gunther Cunningham, to take control of his hearing health by utilizing devices.

During his 11-year NFL career, Blaise played for the Colts, the San Diego Chargers and the Green Bay Packers. He currently empowers others to make their dreams a reality by working hard and never giving up..

Blaise was named a HearStrong Champion on December 9, 2013, at a special ceremony at the Lambeau Field Atrium in Green Bay, WI.

I have never been held up from any (hearing) loss and will not be. I have been able to do all the things I dream.

Blaise helped the foundation honor Sanford Freed as a HearStrong Champion on March 28, 2014, at the 2014 AudiologyNOW! Convention in Orlando, FL.
