I feel it is important to not let anything hold you back. Anyone can rise above a challenge they are given with enough hard work and determination. I also think it is important to know that you are not alone.
Experiencing Hearing Loss
Emma’s hearing loss was identified immediately after she was born as she did not pass her hearing exam in the hospital. Beginning at birth, Emma’s parents began the process to evaluate her hearing loss so they could develop a plan for Emma’s hearing advancement. Because of her parents early intervention Emma does not remember a time when she did not wear hearing aids and has been able to experience clear sounds from a young age.
“Knowing at such an early age that Emma couldn’t hear properly we were immediately interested in what could be done to help her. With a family history of deafness we are all too aware of the challenges that are presented. Early intervention is always key.”
The Importance of Hearing Better
Emma loves playing soccer and feels the most like herself when she is out on the soccer field. Although Emma could play soccer without her hearing aids it is easier and more enjoyable for her to play with them. Hearing aids have helped Emma to be the best soccer player she can be and now nothing can hold her back from reaching her goals as a student and an athlete. Emma proudly shows people her bright green hearing aids and tells them they are like glasses for her.
